Conventions of Music video

Well known conventions of a music video include the artist, instruments, lip syncing, mise-en-scene, performance, narrative, editing to the beat, lyrics, the actual song, change of costume and location. We know these are conventions of music videos as they appear in most if not ALL music videos. The mise-en-scene will always depend on the genre of the music video but we know the conventions in which genres this will apply in. Some videos do not always include the artist and include an actor/actress/'normal people' or other celebrities but there is always a label on music videos (mainly on TV) telling everyone who the artist is and what the song is called. Editing to the beat is key to a music video except in some aspects of narrative.
